About The Scientist

Dr Esther Wahaga is a Social Research Scientist with a PhD in Sociology from the University of Warwick, UK. Esther has an extensive record of research experience with CSIR. Her expertise is in conducting social research in crops and food crops, water and fisheries using qualitative and quantitative research methods. Her research spans from issues relating to rural sociology with focus on behaviour change-technology adoption, social change, capacity building and community development, research design and management, monitoring and evaluation of social development programmes, participatory impact assessment and organizational capacity development.


She has been involved in several projects in CSIR and currently, is involved in implementing a DANIDA funded project in collaboration with, CSIR-Water Research Institute (lead), CSIR-Food Research Institute, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Arhus University, Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland, Central Queens University, Ghana Metrological Agency and Hydrological Services Department. She is also involved in Monitoring and Evaluating the Safe-fish project in CSIR-Food Research Institute.

Her key area of research includes Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods; Monitoring and Evaluation; Research Design, Implementation and Management; Technology Dissemination, Capacity Building; Community Development; Participatory Impact Assessment.

Currently, she is involved in implementing a DANIDA funded project in collaboration with, CSIR-Water Research Institute (lead), CSIR-Food Research Institute, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Arhus University, Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland, Central Queens University, Ghana Metrological Agency and Hydrological Services Department
