Innovation challenge prize
The aim of this competition is to promote innovative technologies that address food production, safety, postharvest losses, nutrition, and environmental issues while creating wealth, employment, and poverty reduction especially in rural areas. Awards will be given in the following categories:
a. Food safety innovation award - Innovations that promote a scientific solution and guarantee the safety of raw produce, food, and food ingredients along the supply chain. This includes certification schemes and innovative projects developed throughout the value chain of the food industry for food safety.
b. Most Innovative Food Business start-up award - Innovations that improves the safety of food consumed, as the start- up company helps to promote better food production, postharvest management, processing, preservation and packaging solutions for better nutrition, health, and improved incomes.
c. Best Artificial Intelligence and Digitization solution for the Food Industry - Innovations that boost the market competitiveness of raw produce and food products through early detection of insects, pathogens, physical hazards like metals, hair, plastics, etc and chemical residues whiles enhancing environmental protection and employment opportunities.
Innovators are invited to submit a one-page description of their projects and technologies and how they intend to scale-up or collaborate with industry by the 15th of September 2022. The top ten (10) will be selected to participate in the competition and pitch their innovations.
